DESCRIPTION:V E R D I – R E Q U I E M\n\nSaturday November 17th\nSt Bartholomews Church\, Brighton\, 7.30pm \nTo help commemorate this week of remembrance\, we are performing possibly the world’s most powerful requiem.\nGuiseppe Verdi wrote this enormous requiem in memory of his close friend Alessandro Manzoni and used all his skills as a dramatic operatic composer to create a work that has become one of the staples in the repertoire.\nScored for double choir\, large orchestra and four soloists\, not to mention an especially commissioned new bass drum\, this work will literally shake the foundations of the church.\nThe orchestra is joined by two of the area’s foremost and finest choirs with four of this country’s finest soloists.\nThis will be an evening to remember. \nVERDI REQUIEM \nSussex Symphony Orchestra\nSussex Chorus – Director\, Alan Vincent\nEast Sussex Bach Choir – Director\, John Hancorn\nSoprano – Joanna Appleby\nMezzo Soprano – Yvonne Howard\nTenor – Andrew Rees\nBass – Trevor Bowes \nConductor – Mark Andrew James \n\n
