Verdi Requiem with SSO
November 17 @ 7:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Saturday November 17th
St Bartholomews Church, Brighton, 7.30pm
To help commemorate this week of remembrance, we are performing possibly the world’s most powerful requiem.
Guiseppe Verdi wrote this enormous requiem in memory of his close friend Alessandro Manzoni and used all his skills as a dramatic operatic composer to create a work that has become one of the staples in the repertoire.
Scored for double choir, large orchestra and four soloists, not to mention an especially commissioned new bass drum, this work will literally shake the foundations of the church.
The orchestra is joined by two of the area’s foremost and finest choirs with four of this country’s finest soloists.
This will be an evening to remember.
